Exec departures from ICBC and BCLC deserve a lot more scrutiny for a lot of reasons apart from the ones above but it seems few such moves get probed, like the recent departure from ICBC. Couldn't the NDP being more in Crown corps committee or some other ways?

When do we get the 7% HST back? We should get credit
for all the extra we're paying and they get 5 years to
pay back the 1.6 billion ? We didn't vote to keep it
until 2013 -if they ever do. We voted to get rid of HST
then and there. BC Liberals are crooks ho think it's ok to
drive drunk and lie and be unsocially responsible. MSP?
Another tax on the tax on the levy on the fee? They say
that BC'ers are one of the lowest taxed?

Thanks Ian for the BurClub info Ian.

Regarding Mr. Thompson...My longterm experience reading him has been pretty weird, because I always find something new such that now, finally, 'gonzo' is the least/most superficial aspect of all of it.

Most recently, when I read the letters volumes, I think...Holy Doodles!...On top of it all, this guy was the world's first blogger.....(before the internet, of course)

It is interesting to note the reduction in bring cash personal tax exemption from $11,000 down to the 2009 $9,373 plus the questionable approx. 2% inflation figure. Doesn't even come remotely close to covering my cash out of pocket cost of increased MSP at 4.5%, hydro at 7.07% on April 1, 2012 and the continual theft of the extra 7% due to bc HST and increased motor fuel taxes. Incredible, hornrimmed glasses mentions deficit under control and being reduced when I see the figure increasing from about 50.985 Billion to 57.603 billion in one year(2011/12 vs 2012/13)TableA17p150Budgetandfiscalplan. Yes increasing debt by 1/7 is indeed a prudent thing to do if one is a parasite.

if it was about the people of bc we would still have bc rail,
we would have a house that sat and debated
and yes christy would be electable

Hey RossK, I've been meaning to comment on your HST (the guy, not the tax) posts. In the early seventies I wrote a political philosophy paper on him. I should have guessed you'd be similarly inspired.

Here's the website of the Burgundy Club. http://burgundyluncheonclub.com

It's a good idea. I've long thought their should be such a thing on the broad left/middle.

Like a pupil defending the teachings of a beloved master, Falcon went on to contest the vacated leadership. He must have felt a twinge of bitter frustration over his defeat, certainly, but always having been a good student, he must have also asked what would his master have done in the same situation.

_____________________________________________________________

Unfortunately, Falcon was not that good a pupil - he wouldn't resign in disgrace like Campbell did and continues to this day, stating one lie after another in a desperate attempt at trying to cover up the sabotage that the BC Liberals have d one.

Thanks

The last time we saw this kind of political viral shedding was when Socred suckling Gordon Campbell infected Gordon Wilson's new Liberal party, usurping its DNA, replicating neo-right ideology to become the BC Liberals and ultimately to metastasize into every public service and institution in British Columbia. Now that the BC Liberal party's suffering the same prognosis as its predecessor, the neo-right virus needs a new host. And along comes the new BC Conservative party.

Campbell's strategy was straightforward: dirk party leader Wilson by smearing his marital indiscretions with another Liberal MLA all over the press, then return political discourse to the ideologically polarized state so tiresomely familiar to British Columbians. Ironically, much of the Liberals' electoral success came directly from Wilson's criticism of polarization during the party leaders' televised debate; by the time the next election rolled around, however, Campbell had usurped the leadership and twisted Wilson's centrist vision to the point the party's name had become a complete misnomer eventually qualified as "BC" Liberal to distinguish it from real liberals. Campbell did have, though, a perfectly polarizing counterpart in the new NDP Premier Glen Clark.

To Campbell's bitter frustration, the BC Liberals lost to Clark's NDP, even though they got a larger share of the popular vote, so he was impressed by Kevin Falcon's retaliatory enthusiasm to initiate a Recall campaign in each recently won NDP riding, later encouraging him to run and eventually promoting him to cabinet. Falcon, most loyal of Campbell's ministers, staunchly held out against the Anti-HST forces to the very last, even after his leader had fallen. Like a pupil defending the teachings of a beloved master, Falcon went on to contest the vacated leadership. He must have felt a twinge of bitter frustration over his defeat, certainly, but always having been a good student, he must have also asked what would his master have done in the same situation.
