Real journalism is sadly missing in BC. So when you find it, celebrate it.
Jody Paterson has a very real piece of investigative journalism over on her website today. Remember the story about the police tasering a troubled teen in the care of the Ministry of Children and Family development?
Paterson has done some digging and her story raises serious questions about expertise, contracting practices and political friends and insiders from the BC Liberal Party.
What’s missing is the tie to the massive budget cuts leading to this kind of contracting out in the 2003/04 and 2004/5 budget years – with the biggest cuts implemented by the current BC Liberal Premier.
Family friendly, my ass.

Just so you know, I’m a blogger not a journalist.
But that doesn’t mean I can’t do a little investigative journalism myself. The chasm is wide and deep and needs to be filled.
I won’t be posting much this weekend as I work on new pieces about the BC Place stadium cash cow. Stinks to high heavens is all I can say right now – in a kind of BC Rail redux way. Stay tuned.
