“Inspired learning comes through fervent prayer”

That’s the motto of the number one elementary school in the province – according to the Fraser Institute.

You might add… “and six wives to service your needs.”

The institute released its annual rankings yesterday and tied for number one is Bountiful Elementary.  In this “values based” school a visitor walks in to see “a photograph of a smiling Warren Jeffs — the leader of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, who is doing time in a Utah prison, convicted of being an accomplice to rape,” according to a recent MSNBC news story.

And why not put Jeffs picture up on the wall?  Former community members have described a closed society riddled with sexism, that condones rape and cross border trafficking in young girls.  And the independent school provides a bulwark against change, a place where the “values” of the community are free from question.

And that fits just fine with the Fraser Institute.    After all these are the same guys who gave an economic “Freedom” award to Bahrain – you know, where women are possessions.

    A perfect 10!

Poetic justice that a rogue Mormon school with a pitiful graduation rate, where boys are considered surplus and female students ready for marriage right after sitting for their grade seven tests would top the Fraser Institute’s rankings. This alone says all that needs to be said about the value (or lack of value) of these absurd tests and their complete lack of any meaningful relationship to actual EDUCATION!

The Fraser Institute isn’t worth the powder, to blow it to hell. This is one of their more asinine results. The study of the Bountiful school rated at #1, is pathetic.

This is a useful result. For those who didn’t already know, it proves the Fraser Institute schools report is a pointless, useless “study”, not unlike other work they publish. The fact they spend over $1 million a month to create such feeble nonsense tells us something about the billionaires that fund it. They are not getting much value for that chunk of change.

Imagine the real social good that could be achieved with that money. Kiva.org could turn $1 million into thousands of micro-credit loans to enable real free enterprise to function in Africa, South America, Asia, etc.

Donald Gutstein has been a thorn in the side of the Fraser Institute before. He provides detail about the corrupt school report.

The Fraser Inst. never did have credibility in my book. Now I think just about everybody will see what idiots they are.
Of course those in the Fraser Inst. may think Boutiful is just great. Women have no rights, a subservient work force, pay to those who work for Bountiful enterprises receive min. wages, if any. For those at the top of the food chain there is an endless supply of young women to have sex with. The young men who might compete for these women are thrown out.
Gee and people say bad things about Islamic states. Bountiful isn’t all that different.
The Fraser Inst. likes these types of things. It leaves everything for those at the top of the heap and the rest of the population is there to serve their interests.
Of course the Fraser Inst. likes a place with Warren Jeffs picture. He rapes young girls and the Fraser Inst. would like to continue to rape everything in B.C. for their own benefit.
The Fraser Inst. and its ilk will not be happy until we are all working for $10 a day, 6 days a week, with no unions, schools are for the priviledged only, and doctors can charge what they want.
given their ranking of Boutiful’s school with the picture of a rapist in promient view you could say the Fraser Inst. supports rapists.
The Fraser Inst. could do a lot more with their money than they currently do. Given B.C. has the highest rate of child poverty in Canada, 7 yrs running you think they might want to help these children instead of continue to support those who want to keep things the way they are. Oh, I forgot, the Fraser Inst. is there to ensure the rich get richer, the poor get poorer, etc. Well we can all look to Egypt’s citizens for leadership and maybe those at the fraser inst. might want to rethink their ways, it could happen here.
